In depth:
Another inductee into the Honors Hall of Fame of moriddim covers of illustrious infamy and entropy. This time its Chris Isaak’s ”Wicked Games,” the seminal tune that we all remember from one time or another that would’ve either gotten your girlfriend outt’ve ‘er drawers or beckoned great grandma to crank it up some more. It’s got that same bluesy, country lull and lang but with a newer, aqueous nü-soul infusion a la Sebastien Tellier and one of his ingenious, simple-icious instrumental ballads dubbed“Le Long De La Riviere Tendre.” Whether it was his intention to borrow from this tune or not, I will never know. But that’s not what’s important right? Come and play and cry your Venereal Day woes away.
